It sucks to think you would never even say goodbye. It is normal that being replaced hurts so bad. Kids feel it when siblings come, pets do when puppies arrive, old people do when they are shoved to the back of the shelf to grow dusty and neglected.

Most of the time, you are not a vice on my heart, hardly a seat in my brain. But always a ghost. A shadow. And some days in that dark spot are just so cold.
